Description:

In the seventeenth and eighteenth century, Absolutism was a form of government where the monarch holds supreme power, not being restricted by laws or principles. There are pros and cons to absolute monarchy. One downside is that the monarch could make any arbitrary rule they wanted. King Louis XIV of France is considered the most successful absolute monarch, because of how he kept in power. Many consequences came from the trend of absolute monarchy, including tyranny and oppression.
