Cold War (jan 1, 1947 – jan 1, 1991)
Description:
After WWII, the two biggest world powers were the United States and the Soviet Union. Though they had fought as allies against Germany and the Axis during WWII, once the war was over, the rivalries started. The sparring matches that followed were later dubbed the Cold War. The countries competed to advance technology, like in the space race, and there were even military struggles like the Korean and Vietnam wars. The Cold War was an opportunity to prove to the rest of the world which was better, American Capitalism or Soviet Communism.
