The life of Copernicus (jan 1, 1473 – jan 1, 1543)

Description:

Copernicus was a Polish astronomer who created many ideas still used by modern astronomy today. One of these ideas was heliocentrism, the idea that the sun is at the center of the solar system. Before him most people thought that the earth was the center of the universe, which was the idea adopted by the church. When the church found out that Copernicus was going against their teachings they began to convict him of heresy. Ironically, he died the same year that his work was published and he could not be prosecuted.
