After the entrance of the USA to WWII, they developed a project called "The Manhattan Project." A code name for the development of functional atomic weapons to defeat Germany. The original idea of the Manhattan Project was a response to fears that a German scientist was developing using nuclear technology since the 1930s, and Hitler would use to destroy the world.
