Description:
Revivalist movement that emphasized emotional side of religion. Very interdenominational. Whitfield's preaching brought many to repentance. Sowed the seeds for American Evangelicalism; born again experience, emotional as well as intellectual. Causes the weakening of American denominationalism (denominational splits, loyalty to a preacher, revival, or theological movement).
