Pope Boniface VIII (Latin: Bonifatius VIII; born Benedetto Caetani, c. 1230 – 11 October 1303) was pope from 24 December 1294 to his death in 1303.
Unam Sanctum = Document written by Pope Boniface that states ultimate authority over the church and people's salvation (extra ecclesium, nulla salus). Essentially, only the RCC can offer salvation. Pope is the Supreme Head of the church. Salvation is only attained by submitting to the Pope.
