Description:
Bartolomeu Dias was the first european sailor to sail the tip of africa. He sailed around the Cape of hope and the Cabo das Agulhas. These were new route by seas from europe to Asia. There were land routes, but that was soon stoped by the ottman empire in 1450s. This was such a huge victory for portugal and it also help Christopher Columbus help financially establish a mission on his own, with the help of the royal family, a trade route to the east.Added to timeline:
