Rule of Louis XIII of France (jan 1, 1610 – oct 10, 1636)
Description:
King Louis XIII was able to keep the nobility under his control and successfully intervened in the Thirty Years War. He also strengthened the navy and established absolute monarchy. He strengthened the power of the monarchy by weakening the nobility, expanding the bureaucracy and army, and by creating new roles in the bureaucracy which allowed royal power to reach further into the provinces.
