The Renaissance was a period of European cultural, artistic, political and economic “rebirth” following the Middle Ages. The renaissance took place from the 14th century to the 17th century. Some of the greatest thinkers, authors, statesmen, scientists and artists in human history lived during this era, and global exploration opened up new lands and cultures to European commerce. Things like gunpowder caused military developments and led to many wars, while inventions like the compass allowed for exploration of the Americas and easier trading. The printing press allowed for mass production of bibles and other things such as newspapers, keeping the public informed with books.Added to timeline:
