Leone Battista Alberti (jan 1, 1404 – jan 1, 1472)

Description:

Italian humanism and architect, born February 14th 1404 and died April 25 1472. He acquired a strong background in mathematics in his youth, which helped him in his line of work. He belonged to a wealthy family, a merchant-banker family. His education was a humanity based education. He was given classical latin training and as he emerged from school he wrote a comedy at just twenty years old. His most famous work is the Tempio Malatestiano, commissioned by Sigismondo Malatesta. Later in his life he completed many books, relating to humanism, art, and science.
