Cosimo De Medici (sep 27, 1389 – aug 14, 1464)
Description:
Cosimo De Medici was a wealthy powerful supporter of the arts in Florence during the Renaissance. Even though he was a private citizen, he still seemed to rule the government of all of Florence. Along with building many great cathedrals, he established an educational academy based on the greek philosopher playdough. Cosmo left over 600,000 gold florins for the city before his death in 1464.
