Filippo Brunelleschi is most well known for creating the dome of the Duomo in Florence. He invented machines specifically for the construction of this dome. He was also a famous artist. Many of his pieces focused on linear perspective, which is “an artistic device that creates the illusion of space by depicting converging parallel lines.” An biography written by Antonio di Tuccio Manetti in the 1480s tells us most of what we know about Filippo Brunelleschi. 1377 – 15 April 1446
