Pope Leo X (dec 11, 1475 – dec 1, 1521)
Description:
Formally known as Giovanni de Medici was the second son of Lorenzo de Medici. He got Europe's best education as a kid, and he attended the University of Pisa where he studied theology and canon law. He became the head of his family after his father and older brother died within a year apart. He was cardinal at age 14. He was elected pope on March 9, 1513, on March 15 he was elected priest, on March 17 he was elected bishop. He made Rome a cultural center and political power. During the time he was pope he was involved in Italian and European political disputes.
