Pope Clement VII (may 26, 1478 – sep 25, 1534)
Description:
Clement VII’s birth name was Giulio di Medici, his cousin Leo X made him the Archbishop of Florence, he was made cardinal on 23 September 1513, in 1523 he was elected pope at the end of the Italian renaissance and he picked his name Clement VII. He was elected while the church was going broke, the protestant reformation was spreading, foreign armies were invading Italy. He was respected and thought of as a hard worker when he was elected pope, but his indecisiveness made him “the most unfortunate of the popes”.
