A historian in the tradition of Thucydides, Polybios (c. 200 - c. 118 BCE) is the most well-known historian of the Greek Hellenistic world. His was born in Arcadia, Greece, spent part of his later life in Rome, and travelled extensively around the Mediterranean basin.
His "Histories" covers the period from 264 BC to 146 BC, with a focuson the period from 220 BC to 167 BC and Rome's rise to regional power.
