Niels Bohr's Model (jan 1, 1913 – dec 31, 1913)
Description:
Niels Bohr, a Danish physicist, proposed his model in 1913. Bohr's model was almost identical to Rutherford's; he only built on top of it. Using his deep knowledge of quantum physics, he enhanced Rutherford's model almost to perfection. He proposed that electrons orbit the nucleus in certain orbits called energy levels; the higher the electron' energy, the higher its orbit. He proposed that electrons fill the lower energy levels first and then occupy the higher ones when the lower ones are filled. He also discovered that radiation is when atoms go from one energy level to another.
