J.J Thomson's Atomic Model (jan 1, 1897 – dec 31, 1904)

Description:

J.J Thomson, an English physicist, is known for discovering the electron. After conducting his Cathode Ray Tube experiment, he reached the conclusion that there exists a negatively charged particle in any atom. He went on to find the mass of the electron as 1000 times lighter than that of a Hydrogen atom. Based on his observations, he created his plum pudding model, an atomic model that states that the atom is a sphere filled with a positively charged paste and that, suspended in the paste, were tiny negatively charged particles known today as electrons. He discovered the electron in 1897 and went on to propose the model in 1904. Needless to say, the model got its name from its design.
