Description:

- then Athens could not take Syracuse and Sicily
- things swung in Spartan favour, and Athenian naval weakness meant that the Persians gave cash aid to the Spartans
- Athens was finally brought to naval blockade and starvation in 404
- the Spartans overthrow Athens' democracy
- they ruled so bloodily though, that even the Spartans assented to the return of democracy in 403
