2 Chron 33. Amon followed in the unfortunate legacy left by his father Manasseh. He failed to take the lessons of Manasseh's repentance though and "humbled not himself before Yahweh". Eventually, he got so bad that some of his servants conspired to kill him, who were in turn slain by the populace. They placed Josiah on the throne at just 8 years of age, perhaps hoping to mould the king into something they wanted him to be and allow themselves to be.
