Jefferson Presidency (mar 4, 1801 – mar 4, 1809)
Description:
Thomas Jefferson believed in a decentralized and simple government, giving people control of the government. He also reduced the size of the army, halted a planned expansion of the navy, lowered expenses for government social
functions, and rolled back Hamilton’s economic program by eliminating all internal taxes and reducing the influence of the Bank of the United States. Jefferson was the first president to take office in the new federal capital.
