The Parties' Views Switch (jan 1, 1860 – dec 31, 1936)
Description:
During this period the views of the Democrats and republicans switch view. The main cause is believed to be that they were both trying to to win voters from the newly expanding west. A major contributor to the democrats' switch was William Jennings Bryan who blurred party lines by highlighting the government's role in ensuring social justice through expansion of federal power.
