LA Riots (apr 29, 1992 – may 4, 1992)
Description:
The LA riots, lasting around a week, resulted in the deaths of over 60 people, around 2,000 injuries, 7,000 arrests, and over $1 billion in property damages. These riots stemmed from a video taken of four LA police officers beating an unarmed black motorist, Rodney King, following his involvement in a high-speed police chase. The police officers who were involved in the assault were acquitted of any wrongdoing, and immediately after the verdict was released to the public, large-scale protest and rioting erupted in Los Angeles.
