James Meredith's March Against Fear (jun 6, 1966 – jun 25, 1966)
Description:
James Meredith was a black civil rights activist who began a solitary march from Memphis, Tennessee with the intention of reaching Jackson, Mississippi. Shortly after beginning the civil rights march to promote African American voter registration, Meredith was shot and seriously injured by a white gunman. Following this, several civil rights organizations came together to finish the march.
