Formation of METCO (jan 1, 1966 – 2h 57min, apr 24, 2024 y)
Description:
The METCO Program is a busing program funded by the state of Massachusetts. It was created to integrate mostly white schools in the suburbs with black children from the city, where the educational opportunities were superior. It is the second-oldest voluntary inter-district school assignment program in the US for increasing diversity. It is important because it still prevailed even after people resisted integration, and it still exists today.
