The Age of Discovery, also known as the Age of Exploration, was a series of several extensive European expeditions overseas and across Eurasia in the late middle ages. These expeditions were take by a number of explorers including Marco Polo. One of the largest motivation for these expeditions was the search for a westward trade route to Asia. World maps began constantly changing due to European powers such as England, France, and Spain, started claiming land. Knowledge of world geography grew significantly during this period. The age of discovery introduced a new period of global interaction upon the world and began a new age of European colonialism that would intensify over the next several centuries.
