Decolonization of Africa and Asia (jan 1, 1945 – jan 1, 2011)
Description:
During World War II, Japan drove the European powers out of Asia. After the Japanese surrender in 1945, local nationalist movements in the former Asian colonies fought for independence. European countries lacked the wealth and political support necessary to end rebellions. Strong independence movements in colonies began all over Africa and Asia.
