French Revolution (jul 14, 1789 – nov 9, 1799)
Description:
The French Revolution was an upheaval caused by the French populations discontent for there monarch (Lewis XVI) and his poor economic policies. Many of the urban poor expressed unrest and discontent at the taxes being laid and the lack of food they possessed (due to taxes, droughts, poor harvests and cattle disease. Rioters stormed the Bastille fortress on July 14, 1789 to steal guns, munitions and gunpowder. This is considered the start of the french revolution. The revolution was very bloody and finally ended with Napoleon Bonaparte leading a coupe and taking control on November 9, 1799.
