World War II was a war that involved almost every part of the world with the Axis powers (Germany, Italy, and Japan) and the Allies (France, United States, Great Britain, and the Soviet Union). World War II began when German military leader Adolf Hitler invaded Poland. In response, Poland's allies, Great Britain and France declared war on Germany. On December 7th, 1941 the United States joined the war after the bombing at Pearl Harbor. By the time the United States joined the war, Germany occupied much of Europe, but the allies proceded to turn the tides and win WWII.Added to timeline:
