Not long after World War II, many European countries were lacking in wealth and political support. They were unable to defy the new Powers. Between 1945 and 1960, many new states in Africa and Asia achieved independence from their European colonial rulers. The creation of so many new countries altered the composition of the United Nations and political complexity of every region on the globe.
