Azidothymidine (jan 3, 1964 – jan 1, 1984)
Description:
Jerome Horwitz was originally synthesized azidothymidine in 1964 to treat cancer patients but was later found by Marty St. Clair in 1984 to actually help HIV patients. Azidothymidine is known to be the first medicine to help the treatment and prevent transmission of HIV from fetuses from the affected pregnant women through the blockage of placenta.
