Aspirin (jan 1, 1763 – jan 1, 2020)

Description:

Aspirin is something people use everyday for aches and pains, and it has been around for thousands of years. Aspirin is a synthetic derivative of natural substance salicylic acid. The first known use of salicylates was approximately 4,000 years ago by the Egyptians. It is also known that 2,000 years ago is when the Chinese and Greeks used willow bark, which contains salicylates, for medical treatments. There is a long history of aspirin, but the first known clinical research on aspirin was not until 1763 by Reverend Edward Stone. Lastly, aspirin was first widely produced by Heyden Chemical Company in Germany in the 1890s.
