Guillaume I le Sénéchal de Kercado (jan 1, 1421 – jan 1, 1505)

Description:

IX. DEGREE.

GUILLAUME I the Seneschal of Kercado, by name, Lord of Kercado, of Bot-Saint-Caradec, of Brohais etc. does not appear in the History of its time, but undoubtedly only because of the lack of Roles which have not all been preserved in their entirety; And indeed it is not probable that being head of a House united by blood ties to all that the Province then had of greatest Men, he had less inclination for the profession of the Nobility than his predecessors or even those of his name who were his contemporaries.

Guillaume the Seneschal was married twice. In his first marriage he married by contract under the Seal of the Court of Pontivy on January 18, 1444, SIBILLE le VEYER, second daughter of Noble Homme Mister Guillaume le VEYER, Lord of Tréfalguen, of Coetmenech, Knight, & Isabel of COETMENECH. Sibille le Veyer had for elder sister Jeanne le VEYER, married to Jean Lord of the FEILLÉE However, it did not fail to be a considerable party; Because besides the Friday after the feast of Saint Michael in the year 1442, Guillaume le Veyer his father had made a will containing several advantageous provisions in his favor to give rise to him to marry, & that by another act expressly dated February 8 of the same year (old style), he had declared himself to be resigned from his Manoir of Coetmenech: the wife of Tannegui of CHASTEL King's Chamberlain Charles VIII,* Grand Maître of France Prévôt of Paris (b), who was named after her Sibylle le VEYER (c), & of whom she was a niece & goddaughter, being the Tuesday before the feast of Chéze-Saint Pierre (that is to say before January 18th) 1443, had given him a third of his inheritances, and a large quantity of precious furniture, like a gold chain, all his rings & needles of either gold or silver heads, all his precious stones , diamonds & Jewels etc.

This first woman having died without leaving any children, Guillaume le Seneschal took a second marriage on October 12, 1463, with YOLAND DE ROHAN-DU GUÉ-DE L'ISLE, younger sister of Jean of ROHAN, Lord of Gué-of l'Isle, of the Chasteigneraie etc. & like him coming out of the marriage that Olivier of ROHAN, Lord of the same Lands, & second in the name in his branch, had contracted in 1322, with Marie of ROSTRENAN. It was said above (and this is a truth that has never been disputed), that the Lords of Gué-of l'Isle were cadets of the Maison of Rohan (d). Olivier of Rohan was grandson of Éon of Rohan, younger brother of Viscount Olivier II, from the name that gave it its share on the Wednesday before All Saints' Day of the year 1311.

From this alliance in favor of which Jean of Rohan promised to give his sister before the Marriage two hundred gold crowns, & forty pounds of rent not including obedience in the Parishes of Plouars, Chastel-Audren, Lan vollan etc. ” he left several children, of which the eldest is the only one known as principal heir & Noble of his father & mother named together in several acts since their marriage & in particular in a Transaction that Yoland of Rohan made on I January 1493, with his nephew, François of ROHAN, Lord of Gué-of l'Isle, about the successions of Olivier of Rohan, & of Marie of Rostrenan. This eldest son, main heir & Noble was.
