Lunch Counter Sit-Ins (feb 1, 1960 – jul 25, 1960)
Description:
The Sit-Ins were a series of nonviolent protests at Woolworth department stores in Greensboro, North Carolina where blacks sat at lunch counters that only served whites. It started with four students and spread throughout the South. The Sit-Ins set into motion the creation of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC).
