Sample of an long event (jan 1, 1855 – jan 1, 1861)

Description:

A small civil war and a time of violence between the United States happened throughout 1855 – 1861 and during the settlement of the Kansas territory. The Kansas-Nebraksa Act of 1854 changed the Missouri Compromise’s (the usage of the states latitude as a guide to a boundary free land/slave territory). The state argued that it would be better for the residents to determine weather the land would be a free state or a slave state. The proslavery and antislavery promoters fought for control of newly formed Kansas.
