Grover Cleveland was a Democrat that served from 1885 to 1889, and again from 1893 to 1897. He was the only president to do so. He was involved in a scandal over his illegitimate child, but because he admitted his mistakes he was elected over his Republican adversary, who was seen as corrupt.
