The Saintonge War was a feudal dynastic encounter that occurred in 1242 and 1243 between forces of Alphonse, Count of Poitiers, supported by Louis IX of France, and those of Hugh X of Lusignan and Raymond VII of Toulouse, backed by Henry III of England, who hoped to regain the Angevin possessions lost three decades prior.
