Darwin evidential research (oct 4, 1836 – nov 22, 1859)

Description:

During the previous five years, Darwin had studied and collected samples of species and noted slight deviations within a group of animals significant enough to create separate species. Over the next 20 years, Darwin collected and examined specimens provided by the scientific community. The book "On the Origin of Species" first published in 1859 chronicled Darwin's theory of evolution and natural selection. In his book, Darwin provides an explanation of existence contrary to religious creationism which was the common belief of the time. The idea that life forms were not fixed in the form in which they had been created but changing gradually over time and adapting to their environment was a revolutionary and extremely controversial theory. "In considering the Origin of Species, it is quite conceivable that a naturalist, reflecting on the mutual affinities of organic beings, on their embryological relations, their geographical distribution, geological succession, and other such facts, might come to the conclusion that each species had not been independently created, but had descended" (Darwin, 1859). In the 150 + years since Darwin published his theory, many advancements in science have supported his claims of evolution. The discovery of DNA and mapping of the genome pares evolution with the inheritance of genes, providing supporting evidence to Darwin's claims.
