Description:
Peròn's marriage to Eva Duarte was fundamental to the success of Peròn's campaign relations to the proletariat. Eva Duarte was the object of hysterical devotion for the destamisados, the 'shirtless' mass of urban workers who regarded her as the 'Madonna de Amèrica.' Duarte was influencing social policies and ideologies Peròn needed to touch on to connect with the working class. Duarte's Eva Peròn Foundation, funded by unions and business, was turned into a parallel welfare state. The foundation provided hospitals, clinics, schools, and many forms of charitable relief for the poor and the sick. The foundation relates to the economic policy in Latin America, as far as what was accomplished by a populist regime. The influence in building and creating many systems to benefit the population.
