Peròn's arrest on October 9th of 1945, about a month after his address, is pivotal when discussing his rise to power. The arrest from his rivals came from Peròn's speech that slandered his opposition. Political opposition sent Peròn to the island of Martin Garcia. But, the arrest would prove to be a success for Peròn because there was a public outcry for Peròn's release. A mass protest, organized by Eva Duarte on October 17th showed the amount of support Peròn had. The protest in Buenos Aires with over 100k destroyed Peròn's political opposition case against him.
