Mao Zedong died in 1976
A power struggle ensued between the Communists and a radical group led by Mao’s widow
The Radicals wanted to continue the Cultural Revolution, whilst the Communists wanted to restore order and economic growth
The Communists won support and got most of the power. Members of the radicals were put on trial and many were charged with crimes like Treason
China then began exporting and importing material and products with Western countries, which led to improvement in the economy
