Civil War (jan 1, 1642 – jan 1, 1651)
Description:
Due to an open conflict with the Parliament, king Charles I flees London and prepares for battle.
The parliamentarians, supported by the puritan gentry and the fledgling bourgeoisie, initially score losses, until Oliver Cromwell takes over the leadership and defeats the king in 1645 at Naseby.
Charles I flees to Scotland, but is given up to Cromwell for money.
