Shulchan Aruch & Beit Yosef (jan 1, 1522 – jan 1, 1563)

Description:

The Shulchan Aruch is a systematic codification of Jewish law compiled and published by Yosef Karo based on his earlier work, the Beit Yosef. The legal rulings in the Shulchan Aruch record Sepharadi halacha as it was practiced at the time of Yosef Karo, based on the legal rulings in the Mishnah and Gemara and those of the Geonim and Rishonim, and often record multiple different local customs. The Shulchan Aruch systematically combines the approaches and rulings of the Sefer HaHalakhot, Mishneh Torah, and Arba'ah Turim.

The Shulchan Aruch remains widely influential and is seen as the authoritative work of Jewish law in most of the Jewish world, on which all further halachic decisions are based.
