Mishneh Torah (jan 1, 1170 – jan 1, 1180)
Description:
The Mishneh Torah is a systematic codification of Jewish law based on the rulings in the Mishnah and Gemara as well as those of the Geonim, compiled by the Rambam (Maimonides) in an attempt to end debates over how to apply halacha.
The Mishneh Torah still forms the basis of much of Yemenite Jewish halacha and is respected throughout the Jewish world as an important legal source. The Mishneh Torah is also drawn on in the Shulchan Aruch.
