Kingdom of Israel (jan 1, 930 BC – jan 1, 722 BC)
Description:
After King Solomon's death, ten of the Jewish tribes split off from the other two to found their own state, the "Northern Kingdom" of Israel. According to the Tanakh, this kingdom generally encouraged sacrifices at locations other than Jerusalem, sometimes to Canaanite gods. The Kingdom of Israel was destroyed by the Assyrian Empire and its' people were exiled or assimilated into other groups, although they may be the ancestors of today's Samaritan people. Many of the prophets in the Tanakh were active in the Kingdom of Israel.
