Description:

This era was an imprisonment strategy based on the want to prevent crimes from happening again and abandoned most, if not all, hope for offender rehabilitation.
The result of this era was an increase in american prison populations and overcrowding. this was caused by an increased use of minimum sentencing and longer terms of imprisonment.
