The Treatment Era (jan 3, 1945 – jan 1, 1967)

Description:

Correctional systems in this era were based on evolving behavioral techniques . It was solely based on rehabilitation. This implied that offenders were sick and this was merely a way to find the right treatment for them.
The Philosophy of this era was that inmates simply needed help to mature psychologically and be taught to take responsibility for their actions. The goal of these correction systems are commendable, however, staff of the prisons are not trained to provide treatment.
