Alexander VI (1492 - 1503)
Pope at the peak of secularisation of the clergy. Preoccupied mainly with politics, supported his profligate children financially.
Julius II (1503 - 1513)
Had little interest in church affairs, preferring to support artists such as Bramante, Michelangelo or Santi.
Comissioned and commenced the construction of the St. Peter's Basilica.
Leo X (1513 - 1521)
Of the house of De' Medici. Famous for nepotism and his luxurious court.
