The Battle of the Coral Sea (may 4, 1942 – may 8, 1942)
Description:
The Battle of the Coral Sea was between Japan, Australia (Japan planned to bomb Australia from the invasion of Port Moresby), and the US. A US fleet had turned back Japanese invasion force which was intended for Port Moresby in New Guinea. This is the first naval battle fought where ships never saw each other, in history. Also, this represented a turning point for the Pacific theater, because this was the first time that the Allies had stopped the Japanese advance/began to win against the Axis powers.
