The Battle of Stalingrad (jul 17, 1942 – feb 2, 1943)
Description:
Although Germany invaded the Soviet Union in 1941, the battle started when some of Germany's troops tried to take over Stalingrad in 1942. This battle had resulted in the city, Stalingrad, being destroyed. The first reason as to why this event was significant, is because this was Germany's first major loss (during World War 2). The second reason is because the Battle of Stalingrad had marked the end of Germany's Russia and eastern Europe advances.
