The Battle of Iwo Jima (feb 19, 1945 – mar 26, 1945)

Description:

If you may not know, Lieutenant General Tadamichi Kuribayashi had sent 21,000 troops to the island of Iwo Jima. These troops were involved in fighting the US Marines. This island was known as a strategic location (the US had needed somewhere for fighter planes, plus bombers, to land and take off for attacking Japan). As well as the Battle of Iwo Jima being the first major battle (of World War 2) to take place on Japanese homeland.
